Job Title: Events & Terrace Manager

Reports To: Hospitality Manager

Direct Reports: Terrace Staff/Event Staff

The Role:

The Events & Terrace Manager is the point person for events and the Terrace restaurant. They work with all departments on generating ideas and events and how to streamline existing events. Once, an event is confirmed, your role will be to assist the clients up to and throughout the day of the event to ensure positive experiences are achieved. They also supervise and oversee the operation of the Terrace restaurant in the absence of the Hospitality Manager.

Responsibilities:

Events

  • Work collaboratively with other management on the generation of ideas for new public events and how to streamline existing public events to ensure they are both compelling and profitable.
  • Assist in the generation of new private events such as weddings and corporate events.
  • Train and develop event leaders and teams to ensure high levels of knowledge, controls, and customer service are carried out during events.
  • Respond to all event inquiries via email, phone, or other platforms promptly and by distributing our portfolio of event options and pricing with best efforts to attract clients.
  • In charge of all correspondence leading up to events to ensure there is a clear understanding with the clients regarding inclusions, exclusions, permissions, timing, etc.
  • Conduct all onsite meetings/facility tours with clients and vendors demonstrating a high level of professionalism.
  • Ensure that event spaces and itineraries are set up with health and safety in mind.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a high level of comprehension of facilities/operating systems in and around event spaces to ensure comfort for guests.
  • Work with the Marketing department to promote private and public events.
  • Develop Banquet Event Orders (BEO) for every event.
  • Work directly with the food service provider/on-site caterer to ensure prompt service, value, and level of service leading up to and during the event are achieved.
  • Work with the Office Manager and Hospitality Manager to ensure accurate and timely collection of payment.
  • Conduct post-event follow-up with clients

         Terrace Restaurant & Tasting Room

  • Train and develop staff and ensure a high level of customer service for guests.
  • Manage Terrace staff and day-to-day operations in the absence of the Hospitality Manager.
  • Work closely with the Culinary Team Leader in developing new offerings for the Terrace and special events.
  • Assist with Terrace restaurant service as needed.
  • Assist in the Tasting Room as needed – wine tastings, cashier duties, etc.
  • Participate in monthly DTC meetings.
  • Occasional benchmarking with a competitive set for events and weddings.
  • Follow all safe job procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

      Top Candidate Qualification:

      • 2-5 years’ experience in event planning.
      • Experience working in the Food & Beverage industry, winery or brewery experience ideal.
      • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
      • Customer and solutions-focused.
      • Valid driver’s license.
      • Serving it Right Certificate.
      • Advanced Wine Knowledge (WSET or ISG level 2) is an asset.
      • Knowledgeable with computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
      • Knowledgeable of Point of Sale systems.
      • Strong organizational skills.
      • Experience in customer service.

      Working Conditions & Physical Environment: 

      • Normal office setting – sitting, keyboarding, phone calls.
      • Ability to lift 24 kg.
      • Ability to stand for 8 hours.
      • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

      Compensation and Other Duties:

      • Hours: Full-time, permanent position
      • Location: In-person at Monte Creek Winery
      • Pay: $28 – $31/hr (wage dependent on candidate experience)
