Every year, hundreds of wine competitions take place globally. At Monte Creek Winery, our team carefully selects a few of these events to submit our wines to. We focus on events that are particularly challenging, characterized by high-quality judging panels and intense competition.

This year, we submitted a selection of wines from our 2022 and 2023 vintages. The 2022 growing season started slowly, with a cool spring delaying vine development despite an on-time bud break in May. With our 2022 vintage, the whites are well-balanced and the reds are bright and structured.

The 2023 vintage faced significant challenges, including a harsh winter cold snap that cut the BC crop by nearly 60%. Fortunately, Monte Creek’s Thompson Valley vineyards achieved their largest crop ever, with a 10% increase over 2022’s harvest, despite lighter output from the Keremeos vineyard. Thanks to careful picking and processing, Monte Creek wines retain their freshness and signature fruit-forward character, despite climate challenges and wildfire risks.
