At Monte Creek Winery, bottling day is one of the most exciting days of the year. It’s the point where months of careful vineyard work and hands-on winemaking finally come together in the bottle.
Earlier this month, our cellar team was busy bottling our 2025 Sparkling Rosé, one meticulous step at a time — ensuring that every bottle reflects the freshness, balance, and character of this vintage.
Before a single bottle reaches the line, each wine is prepared for bottling. This stage is all about precision and protection. Our team filters the wine and carries out stability and quality checks to make sure it is clean, sound, and ready for its next chapter. This behind-the-scenes work may not be visible to our guests, but it plays a crucial role in protecting the integrity of the wine long after it leaves the winery. This behind-the-scenes work may not be visible to our guests, but it plays a crucial role in protecting the aroma, flavour, and overall integrity of the wine.
Every bottle is first rinsed to ensure it is spotless before filling. The wine is then transferred into bottle under tightly controlled conditions, designed to minimize oxygen exposure and preserve freshness. As bottles move down the line, they are immediately sealed and visually inspected by our team. Each person plays an important role watching fill levels, closures, and bottle appearance, making sure that only perfectly finished bottles continue on to the next stage. It’s a fast-moving process, but one that depends on steady hands, sharp eyes, and close coordination.
For our 2025 Sparkling Rosé, the wine is bottled using a closed, pressurized system. This allows us to keep the wine under pressure throughout the filling process, protecting the delicate, fine bubbles that define its texture and style. Maintaining this pressure is essential. It helps preserve the lively mousse, freshness, and elegant mouthfeel that make our sparkling wines so vibrant in the glass. Every adjustment on the line is monitored closely to ensure the wine arrives in bottle exactly as our winemaking team intended.
Bottling is more than just a production step; it is the moment when a growing season is captured and preserved. From vineyard decisions made months earlier, to careful cellar work throughout fermentation and ageing, every detail leads to this day. Each bottle of our 2025 Sparkling Rosé reflects the energy of the vintage and the dedication of the people behind it.
