The Role

The Hospitality Manager is responsible for leading the Tasting Room and Terrace staff. They are responsible for ensuring that the team provides every guest with a memorable experience by leading, training and developing the team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recruiting and hiring all full-time and seasonal Tasting Room and Terrace Restaurant staff.
  • Train and develop team leaders and staff to ensure high levels of knowledge, controls and customer service are carried out during events. This is a combination of leading by example and by ensuring the staff have the proper training, tools and resources to be successful during events.
  • Manage Terrace and Tasting Room staff and day-to-day operations.
  • Responsible for month-end inventory and profit and loss analysis.
  • Assist in efforts to market and drive traffic to the winery.
  • Recruit and execute winery events. This includes handling inquiries and doing outreach for weddings, corporate events, private parties and other infrequent musical or theatre events.
  • Conduct all onsite meetings/facility tours with clients and vendors, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.
  • Oversee all food and beverage service standards, food quality and the presentation of menus and brochures to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Work closely with our catering and event partners to ensure all product is of the highest quality and that we have excellent communication flow to guests.
  • Ensure Monte Creek Winery has ample tour programs for both walk in and coach guests that excel in storytelling and experience and maintain excellent relationships with tour companies and operators.
  • Ensure Wine Club members are acknowledged and catered to onsite.
  • Work closely with the Office Administrator to ensure bi-annual Wine Club is processed smoothly and help with the development of new club offerings and events.
  • Conduct wine tastings and assist with Terrace restaurant service when needed.
  • Participate in monthly DTC meetings.
  • Occasional benchmarking with competitive set for both tasting room and event spaces.
  • Follow all safe job procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Top Candidate Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or certificate in Tourism or Hospitality preferred.
  • Experience working in the Food & Beverage industry, winery or brewery experience ideal.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer and solutions focused.
  • Knowledgeable with computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Serving it Right Certificate.
  • Advanced wine knowledge (WSET or ISG Level 2) preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Environment

  • Ability to lift 24 kg.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Compensation and Other Details

  • Hours: Full-time, permanent position
  • Location: In-person at Monte Creek Winery
  • Salary: $58,000 – $66,000 CAD annually (wage dependent on candidate experience)
