Job Title: Culinary & Tasting Room Associate

Reports To: Hospitality Manager | Culinary Team Lead

The Role:

While preparing for the busiest months, the Terrace & Culinary team is looking to add a skilled and passionate person for the upcoming season. Monte Creek Winery offers a friendly, positive, and passionate environment that is suited for like-minded individuals who believe they have what it takes to join the MCW Team.

To fill this position MCW is looking for a versatile individual who has some experience working in a professional kitchen, as well as a strong can-do attitude with a willingness to learn. This position will work two days a week in the kitchen preparing food and doing light prep work.  For the remainder of this position, the individual will be trained in the Tasting Room to create a world-class guest experience.  This position is part-time to start with the opportunity to transition to full-time, seasonal hours in April.

Culinary Team Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, producing & presenting food items and ensuring the highest quality
  • Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe workspace at all times to avoid contamination
  • Ensuring proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures are observed
  • Ensuring work assignments and daily tasks are completed
  • Managing daily kitchen set up and closing as required
  • Being aware of and following all kitchen health and safety regulations and guidelines
  • Ensuring proper recycling procedures are adhered to
  • Other duties as assigned

Tasting Room Responsibilities:

Create a world-class experience for our guests. Storytelling, educating, and enjoying your time hosting them on our property is what it is all about. This will include but is not limited to:

  • Wine Tastings
  • Table Service and all related hospitality duties
  • Wine sales and general retail duties
  • Light cleaning duties
  • Supporting events and special offerings as required (snowy paws, customer appreciation days, etc.)
  • Additional ad-hoc tasks as required.

      Top Candidate Qualification:

      • BC Food Safe Level 1
      • BC Serving it Right Certificate
      • The ability to work weekends
      • A love of all things wine and wine-related is an asset
      • Experience in a customer-facing role
      • Previous Kitchen experience
      • You don’t need to be a bodybuilder, but you will need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs
      • Positive attitude.  Because life is so much better with one
      • Team player. Because work is so much easier if you are one
      • Hard worker. Because the everyday is so much more meaningful when we do

        Compensation and Other Duties:

        • $17.50/hr CAD plus gratuities
